Well Known Dubuque County Farmer Passed Away At His Home In Centralia.
Dies in Centralia:
The death of Martin Schwendinger, a well known resident of Centralia, occurred at his home Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock. His death resulted from a serious form of stomach trouble from which he had long been troubled.
The deceased was born in Dornbern, Austria, Germany, on February 23, 1840. He was united in marriage to Miss Caroline Brauhn at St. Mary's church, Dubuque, by Father Mets on July 22, 1868.
For many years he conducted a farm east of Epworth and was one of the most successful farmers in the country. Five years ago he gave up the active management of the farm and retired to make his home in Centralia. His beloved wife and the following children are numbered among his surviving relatives, Sister Mary Floriana of the Sisters of St. Francis; Joe of Rickardsville, John and Pete of Epworth; William of Farley; (Annie) Mrs. John Wanderscheid of Lawler, (Mary) Mrs. George Winters of New Hampton; (Carrie) Mrs. Peter George of Centralia, (Rose) Mrs. Joseph Kehoe of Farley, two sons preceded him in death.
Mr. Schwendinger was a devout adherent of the Catholic church and passed away comforted by the last rites of the Church. The funeral will take place Friday morning at 10:00 o'clock from the Catholic church at Centralia.
