Ray Hogan, Auto Agency Proprientor, Dies, Rites Friday

WORTHINGTON -- Ray J. Hogan, 51, died at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday at his home here after a six month illness. He operated the Hogan Chevrolet Co. in Worthington.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Sanner Funeral Home in Farley from where services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday to St. Paul's Church in Worthington. The funeral cortege will leave the funeral home at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hogan was born Sept. 27, 1905, in Dodge Township, Dubuque County, son of John A. and Ella Pitman Hogan. He married Miss Marie Schwendinger at Placid, Ia., on Oct. 24, 1926. They lived in Farley for two years and then moved to Worthington. Since that time he has owned and operated the Ray Hogan Chevrolet Co. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, Worthington, and the Iowa Automobile Dealers Assn.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Edgar (Madonna) Wolfe, Mrs. Charles (Joyce) Digman and Mrs. Marvin (Patricia) Gassman, all of Worthington; two sons, James Hogan, Naval Training Center, Dubuque, and Robert Hogan, Worthington; his mother, Mrs. Ella Hogan, Dubuque; four sisters, Mrs. Harold (Helen) Hicks, Tucson, Ariz.; Mrs. Leonard (Mary) Luckritz, Burlington, Ia.; Mrs. Julian (Florence) Sipiora, Chicago; and Mrs. F. W. (Charlotte) Meis, Maquoketa; three brothers, Fred Hogan, Epworth; Pat Hogan, Tucson, Ariz., and Cletus Hogan, East Dubuque, and 10 grandchildren.

His wife died on Feb. 3, 1957.
