Death of Mrs. Elizabeth Hogan

Mrs. Elizabeth Hogan, pioneer woman of Farley, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 15, after a brief illness. The deceased was born in Pennsylvania on October 17, 1851. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hoover. At the age of 23 she was united in marriage to Daniel Hogan at St.Joseph's Church by Rev. J. McGurn. She is survived by John A. Hogan, of Farley, Dan Hogan of Farley, Dr. Frank Hogan of Missouri, Dr. Leo Hogan of Charlestown, South Carolina, Mrs. Gene Stroh of North Dakota, Mrs. Herman Kline of Minnesota, Mrs. Frank Daly of Farley, Mrs. John Arnold of Earlville, Dr. Joseph Hogan died in 1919. Mrs. Hogan was a grand Christian character, and her taking away will cause universal sorrow in Farley and vicinity where she was beloved and respected to a high degree. Although she had lived far and beyond her three score years and ten, she was active and took a great interest in things of her home and her church. She was a member of St. Joseph's parish, St. Joseph's Rosary Society League of the Sacred Heart Catholic Order of Lady Foresters, St. Rose of Lima Court. To her bereaved relatives we extend the community's sympathy for the loss they have sustained. She was the embodiment of all that was good during her time on this earth. Her splendid character will ever be an inspiration for good and her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her. A good and noble woman has passed to a just reward. Mrs. Hogan's funeral will be helt at St. Joseph's Church, Farley on next Friday, April 17th, at 9 a.m., Rev. Father Coffey officiating. The casket bearers are John Comer,, Jas. Stratton, John Russler, John Ronan, Jos. Veach, E.F. Breen.
