COLLETTA MARIE LAGEN

Colletta Marie Lagen, 92, of Dubuque passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Dubuque Nursing and Rehab Center surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be at 10:30a.m. on Tuesday March 18th at St. Columbkille Catholic Church with Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:00a.m. at the church on Tuesday until time of services. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road is in charge of arrangements.

Colletta was born on 12/14/1921 in Dubuque, IA to Arthur & Lillian (Reuter) Trausch.

She attended The Mound in Sinsinawa Wisconsin and then went on to graduate from Clarke College in 1943.

She married Louis John Lagen on 5/5/1945 in Dubuque IA. She was a member of the Women’s Airforce Service Pilots in Sweetwater TX. And received her pilot’s license in 1944. She volunteered at many organizations of the years including The Dubuque Rescue Mission, Mercy Hospital, The Dubuque Arboretum and Dubuque Cancer Society Discovery Shop.

She will be dearly missed by many family and friends.

She is survived by son Chris (Joan) Lagen, of Dubuque IA, daughter Lisa (Jim) Murphy, of Madison WI, son Steve (Deb) Lagen, of International Falls MN, daughter Laura (Tom) Christensen, of Waterloo IA, son in law Dennis Hayes, of Dubuque, IA. Grandchildren Justin (Angie) Hayes and Jared Hayes, Ryan and Bailey Murphy, Lauren Schlueter, Ariel (John) Schmit, Nicholas Lagen and Louis and Sarah Christensen. Adrienne Lagen and her sister in laws Ruth Trausch, Doris Trausch and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, her beautiful and vibrant daughter Lesley Ann Hayes, her parents and three brothers Armen, Art and Tom Trausch.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials directed to Hospice of Dubuque.

The family also wishes to extend a special thanks to The Rose of Dubuque, Dubuque Nursing and Rehab and Hospice of Dubuque
