Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Stonskas, of Dubuque, died Monday noon, August 1, 2011 at The Finley Hospital with her family at her side.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Resurrection Catholic Church. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m.

She was born in Dubuque, the daughter of John and Evelyn (Rowe) McLennan She married Robert Stonskas Dec. 4, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed playing liars' poker every Friday afternoon at Happy's Place. She provided family dinners every Sunday.

She was a member of Resurrection parish and their rosary Society.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Stonskas, of 60 years; three daughters Roxanne (John) Klaas, Merry (Billy) Lange, and Shirley Schmit, all of Dubuque; two sons, Bob (Bobbi) Stonskas Jr., of Dubuque and Peter (Sarah) Stonskas, of Park View, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. J.T. "Toby" (Georgette) O'Brien, of East Dubuque, Ill; and many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Joann Elliott.
