Geraldine A. Loney, 99, of Ennoble Manor, formerly of 2435 University Ave., died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Ennoble Manor.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Dubuque.
She was born on Oct. 15, 1908, in Dubuque, daughter of Marion and Lillian (Bornhauser) Bench. She was raised in Chillicothe, Mo., where she graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1927.
She married Harmon Loney on Oct. 23, 1938; he preceded her in death on May 7, 1997.
Geraldine worked at Kressge Dime Store, Midland Chemical, The Adams Co. and Giellis Insurance.
She was a member of First Baptist Church for more than 50 years and was lastly a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Geraldine's favorite pastimes were playing card games (Canasta and Hand and Foot), working in her yard, eating candy and babysitting her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Mary Louise (Charles) Groom, of Racine, Wis., Robert (Sharon) Loney, of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Charlotte (James) Dykstra, of Fisher, Minn., and Sue Ellen (Kenneth) Leik, of Dubuque; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Shirley (Ireneus) Weydert, of Dubuque.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Hattie Bench; her half brother, Marion Bench Jr.; and a great-granddaughter.
