William G. Mausser
Epworth, Iowa

Services for William G. Mausser, 86, 22157 Millville Road, Epworth, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Epworth.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. (rest of paragraph omitted).

Mr. Mausser operated the Epworth Locker from 1937 until his retirement in 1976.

He was born Feb. 23, 1910 in Dalhart, Texas, son of Fredrick and Johanna (Stritzel) Mausser. He died at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 1996, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

He married Margaret Kremer on Jan. 29, 1946, in Monticello; she died Dec. 21, 1989.

He received his education at St. Clement's School, Bankston. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also loved flying. He served as assistant fire chief for the Epworth Fire Department, during which time he received the Carnegie Hero Award for his rescue in a cave-in in Epworth. he also served on the board of directors for Epworth Savings Bank and Farley State Bank for several years. He also served as mayor and council member of the city of Epworth for several years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, Epworth, and the Farley Knights of Columbus Council 2001.

Surviving are three sons, William F. (Betty) Mauser, of Epworth, Ronald J. (Susan) Mausser, of Oelwein, and Marvin H. (Rose Mary) Nickol, of Dyersville; three daughters Dr. Joan B. (Donald Tauke) Nickol, of Cedar Rapids, Barbara (Gerald) Feldmann, of Epworth, and Bonnie (Andy Hollenback) Mausser, of Epworth; 20 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Dan (Bette) McDermott and Mrs. Noel (Rita) Callahan, both of Epworth; and two brothers, Bernard (Mary Agnes) Mausser, of Farley, and Clem (Jean) Mausser, of Epworth.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Emma; two brothers, Joe and Henry; and two grandchildren, Marvin J. Nickol and Jamie Feldmann.

A William G. Mausser Memorial Fund has been established.
