Mrs. Eleanora Knapp, 84, pioneer resident of Dubuque County and one of Dubuque's first Civil War orphans, died at the family residence, 1126 White Street, Sunday afternoon at 3:35 o'clock, after a brief illness.
The body is at the Egelhof Home for Funerals, where funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. C. Vin White, pastor of the Third Presbyterian Church, will officiate at the services and at the graveside in the Center Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Knapp was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Smith and lived in Dubuque all of her life. Her father was one of the first soldiers killed in the battle of Antietam.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Otis (Lilly) Robb, Arlington, Wash.; Mrs. John (Cora) Kerrigan, Rock Island, Ill., and Mrs. Everett (Ada) Richards and Mrs. George (Jane) Ruppert, both of Chicago; two sons, John A. and George J. Knapp, both of Dubuque, and 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death with her husband were two sons.
