Henry J. Barth

Henry J. Barth, 80, of 1825 Asbury Road, formerly of Balltown, Iowa, died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 1991, at Manor Care Nursing Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Ed Siegert-Al Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where the wake service will be said at 8 p.m.

Mr. Barth farmed in the Key West and Balltown areas until his retirement in 1974.

He was born on Feb. 6, 1910, in Key West, son of Emil and Mary (Gerlach) Barth. He married Irene Sprank on Dec. 28, 1937, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook, Iowa; she died on April 1, 1978. He later married Irma May in December 1983, she died on Dec. 6, 1984. He later married Rosa (Kass) Ambrosy on Nov. 9, 1985; she survives.

He was a member of the Active Senior Citzens Club, Happy Hour Senior Citizens club; Table Mound Senior Citizens Club and St. Anthony's Rosary Society.

Also surviving are two sons, Melvin Barth of Durango, Iowa, and Roger Barth of Dubuque; a daughter, Mrs. Loras (Dorothy) Meyer of Dyersville, Iowa; three stepsons, Cletus and Richard Ambrosy, both of Zwingle, Iowa, and Kenneth Ambrosy of Potosi, Wis.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Donald (Elgean) Vogler of St. Catherine, Iowa, Mrs. Julius (Betty) Hageman of New Vienna, Iowa, and Mrs. James F. (Shirley) Recker of Dyersville; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, 23 step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, George of Durango, Alfred of Dubuque and Paul of Belmont, Wis.; and three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Kilburg of Bellevue, Iowa, and Mrs. Helen Kowalski and Mrs. William (Edna) Thoms, both of Dubuque.

A Henry J. Barth Memorial Fund has been established.
