Mrs. Emmet (Kathleen E.) Simon, 78, of 22888 Simon Road, Bernard, died at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 1991, at Mercy Health Center St. Joseph Unit, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church, Placid, rural Epworth, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where the parish rosary will be said at 4 p.m., and the wake service at 8 p.m.

Mrs. Simon was a mother and a homemaker.

She was born on Oct. 29, 1912, in Placid, daughter of Joseph and Catherine (McDermott) Urbain. She married Emmet Simon on Aug. 29, 1939, at St. John's Catholic Church, Placid; he survives.

She received her education at Carr Country School, rural Placid. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and its rosary society.

Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Robert (Marie) Budden of Petersburg, Mrs. Steve (Doris) McElmeel of Lisbon, Mrs. Paul (Jeanette) Kremer of Epworth, Mrs. David (Marian) Armstrong of Livingston, Montana, Lucy Sutherland of Cascade; six sons, Merlin, Loras, Matt, Lee, Irwin and Tom Simon, all of Cascade; 30 grandchildren and four great-childsons; and two brothers, Michael and Dan Urbain, both of Placid.
