Esther May Tupper, 107, of The Homestead, Hastings, Neb., formerly of Dubuque, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at The Homestead.

Memorial services were held Dec. 15 at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, both in Hastings. The Butler-Volland Funeral Home, Hastings, was in charge of arrangements.

She was born on leap year day, Feb. 29, 1896, in Dover, Kan., daughter of William and Mary Edna (Todd) McArthur.

She grew up in Topeka, Kan., and graduated from high school and Washburn College in Topeka.

She married Frank Tupper on Sept. 6, 1920; he preceded her in death in 1964. She moved from Dubuque to Hastings in 1950.

She was a homemaker and one of the oldest members of First Presbyterian Church. She also was active in Presbyterian Women's Group, Shrine Auxiliary, Red Cross Bloodmobile, YWCA, Lochland Country Club, bridge clubs, the Salvation Army, as a board member, and Mary Lanning Pink Ladies.

Surviving are sons, Jack W. Tupper, M.D., of Piedmont, Calif., and Richard E. Tupper, of Huntington, Long Island, N.Y.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two nieces and five nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and a sister.

Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church and the family's choice.
