Sister Mary Clement Phillips, OSF

Sister Mary Clement Phillips, OSF, 92, of Holy Family Hall, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Holy Family Hall.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Mount St. Francis Chapel. Friends may call from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m. The Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Mary ministered as a teacher in Iowa schools and in Midlothian, Ill. She also served at St. Pius in Des Moines and the former Immaculate Conception Convent in Dubuque.

She was born on June 25, 1911, in Moneta, Iowa, daughter of James and Rose (Anderson) Phillips.

She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on Sept. 2, 1929. She made her final profession of vows on Aug. 10, 1935.

Surviving are a brother-in-law, Don Brugman; and the Franciscan Sisters, with whom she shared 73 years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Sister Mary Crescentia, Mae (O.J.) Low, Esther (Al) Kas, Mildred (Harry) Deppiesse, Syble (Louis) Noethe, Blanche Brugman and Genevieve (Emil) Schmit; and brothers, Leo and Cornelius.
