Ruth A. Roussell, 93, of Monticello, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque, died Monday evening, Dec. 8, 2003, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following an extended illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Church of Monticello, with the Rev. Edwin Moreano officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.

Mrs. Roussell taught piano lessons in Dubuque and Monticello for many years.

She was born on Oct. 20, 1910, in Dubuque, daughter of David and Annie (Taylor) Hoerner.

She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. She later graduated from the former Dubuque Music Academy.

She married Leonard Roussell on July 26, 1933, in Kings, Ill; he preceded her in death in 1991. They made their home in Dubuque until 1974, when they moved to Monticello. Her health caused her to move to the senior home in 1998.

Surviving are a son, Bob (Judy) Roussell, of Monticello; two grandsons, Paul (Heidi) Roussell, of Delhi, and Mark (Lisa) Roussell, of Dike; and four great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant daughter, Carol.

Memorials may be given to the United Church of Monticello.
