Mrs. Raymond J. (Martha C.) Rhomberg, 83, of 1117 Rhomberg Ave., died at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at home, surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, where there will be a parish wake service at 6:30 p.m.

She was born on Oct. 4, 1920, in St. Donatus, Iowa, daughter of Matthew and Margaret (Weber) Kremer. She married Raymond J. Rhomberg on Dec. 30, 1944, at St. Donatus Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 2000.

Martha was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed time spent with her family. She liked to play cards and was an avid bingo player.

Surviving are three daughters, Jacqueline V. (John) Hutek, of Midland, Mich., and Joyce J. (William) Koopmann and Judy K. Rhomberg, both of Dubuque; three sons, Ronald L. (Carla) Rhomberg and Rick R. (Susan) Rhomberg, both of Dubuque, and Randy L. Rhomberg, of Fox Lake, Wis.; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Veronica (Leonard) Rhomberg and Genevieve Thies, both of Dubuque; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Kremer, of La Motte, Iowa, and Veronica Kremer, of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, Vern Thomas, of Dubuque; a special niece, Mary Jane Markus, of Dubuque; and other nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a grandson, Ronald Rhomberg; a great-grandson, D.J. Peterson; two sisters, Gertrude Butlett and Dorothy Thomas; and four brothers, Albert, Arnold, Roy and Lawrence Kremer.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque, 2255 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, Iowa 52002.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Martin Bagby and his staff and the nurses and staff of Hospice of Dubuque for their loving care and concern.
