ANOTHER SUICIDE AT WEST UNION.

Last Thursday evening Miss May Green, a dinning room girl engaged at Jim?? Hotel in West Union committed suicide by taking strychnine. She was about twenty years old, an amiable and good natured girl and was much prized by Mr. and Mrs. Lisher, having been with them since last Thanksgiving. Her mother and brother reside in Dubuque from which place May came to Noah Hoyer
in West Union a year ago last summer, she and Mrs. Hoyer being intimate friends. For sometime she had been subject to periods of melancholy during which she would often wish herself dead. Last Friday about 5 o'clock she ran into the room where Mrs. Lisher was and throwing her arms around her clung to her, immediately going into spasms. Dr. Robinson was at once called but nothing could be done for her. She begged of the doctor to save her and stated that she had taken strychnine having obtained a bottle which Lisher had bought for the purpose of poisoning rats. Her roommate states that Miss Green had had the bottle in her room for some time. She died about 5:30 p.m. She was popular with guests and boarders. At dinner the day of her death she waited on the table and seemed pleasant and cheerful. Her father is insane and a patient at the hospital in Independence.
