John Jaeger has answered call

Estemed resident dies after an illness of long duration

John Jaeger, aged sixty one years, died at 1:15 o’clock on Saturday morning [3 June 1909] at the family residence, 2165 Jackson Street, after an illness of five weeks’ duration and after ailing for several years. Mr. Jaeger was born in Hessen, Dormstadt (sic), Germany and came to America to Dubuque when he was six years of age. For the past forty years he was with the Ellwanger Company. . He is survived by his wife [Katherine Rhomberg] and children, Walter, George, Caroline, Mrs Ed. Scheppele of Dubuque, by his sisters, Mrs. Agatha Curtis and Mrs Frank L. Reinfried, also by his brother of Marshalltown.
The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock to Linwood Cemetery.
The death of Mr Jaeger is much regretted as he was one of the city’s best known and most highly regarded residents. He has been so long associated with the business life of the community that he was one with it, and his passing has occasioned widspread regret.
