Dennis R. Newell, 49, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Dubuque, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, Omaha. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Omaha, where military rites will be accorded by the Millard American Legion Post 374 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8334. There will be a wake service at 7 p.m. today at Heafey-Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler West Center Chapel, Omaha.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas A. Newell and Jason M. Newell, both of Omaha; his mother and stepfather, Mable and Robert Boelk, of Dubuque; a sister, Heather (Eldon) Montgomery, of New Franklin, Mo.; a stepsister, Laura (Michael) Nielsen, of Hesston, Kan.; and two stepbrothers, Russell (Laurie) Boelk, of Burrton, Kan., and David Boelk, of Dubuque. Also surviving are Jo Ellen Newell, of Omaha; his stepmother, Delores Newell, of Arizona; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Thomas and Jason Newell Memorial Fund.
