Donald C. Kratz, 76, of 710 Kaufmann Ave., died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Kratz worked at Klauer Mfg. Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1989.

He was born on Oct. 9, 1927, in Dubuque, son of Raymond Sr. and Marie (Gerstkamp) Kratz. He married Bonnie Schroeder on June 30, 1956, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Donald cherished his family and enjoyed time walking on the Heritage Trail with his dog, Max.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Kratz, of Dubuque; three children, Kevin (Bobbi) Kratz, Jody Kratz and Tammy Kratz, all of Dubuque; six grandchildren, Nelli, Isaac, Jacob, Amelia, Margaret and Martha; three brothers, Raymond Kratz, Jr., of Scottsdale, Ariz., Wayne (Marilyn) Kratz, of Key West, Iowa, and Lyle Kratz, of Dubuque; and a sister, Jeannine (Harlan) Petsche, of Epworth, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Kratz, in infancy.

A Donald C. Kratz Memorial Fund has been established.
