BERNARD, Iowa - Rita R. Ambrosy, 48, of 13989 Higgins-port Road, Bernard, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in Weirsdale, Fla., as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident with her fiance, Robert "Bob" Link, who also died in the accident.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 8:30 p.m.

She was born on May 13, 1955, in Dubuque, daughter of John and Helen (McDonnell) Payne.

She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1973.

Rita held various jobs. She most recently worked as a clerk at Link Hydraulic, in Dubuque. She also was self employed doing domestic work and was a Tupperware sales representative. She formerly worked at Dupaco Community Credit Union and as bookkeeper for Ellen's Floral Gallery.

She enjoyed baby-sitting for many of her family members.

She was a member of Nativity Parish and was active in many parish activities.

Surviving are a daughter, Johanna (Scott) Schuessler, of St. Louis; two sons, Joseph (fiancee, Angela Gregorich) Ambrosy, of Potosi, Wis., and Johnie (special friend, Natolie Hochhausen) Ambrosy, of Madison, Wis.; four sisters, Mary (Charlie) Johnson, Ellen (Dave) Willis and Sheila (Larry) Blatz, all of Dubuque, and Ann (Jack) Ginter, of LeMars; five brothers, Jerry (Bea) Payne, Bill (Karen) Payne and Ray (Colleen) Payne, all of Dubuque, Jack (Betty) Payne, of Riverside, Calif., and Tim (Myra) Payne, of Fullerton, Calif.; nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Kenneth Ambrosy, of Potosi.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Payne.

Bob was the love of her life. Rita loved her children and their many accomplishments, and was happiest around her family. Her nieces and nephews adored her beyond words. Anyone who spent any time around Rita felt her love of life.

In lieu of flowers, a Rita R. Ambrosy Memorial Fund has been established.

Rita's faith will keep her family and many friends comforted. Rita, God loves you and so do we.
