Robert E. "Bob" Coyle, 70, of 1006 Lincoln Ave., died at 3:13 a.m. Monday Dec. 1, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where friends may call after 10 a.m. today. Burial will be in Park View Cemetery, Peoria, Ill., where military rites will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2662.

Mr. Coyle worked as a photographer for many years at the Telegraph Herald. He also worked as a freelance photographer, specializing in commercial work.

He was born on June 22, 1933, in El Paso, Ill., son of Clyde and Jane (Boian) Coyle. He grew up in Peoria. He married Kay Hendricks on March 24, 1956, in El Paso.

He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He was awarded the National Kodak Amateur Photograph Award in 1964. He also was accorded more than 1,500 awards in photography, including National Press Photograph of the Year.

Surviving are his wife, Kay Coyle; of Dubuque; two daughters, Linda (Jon) Burshiem, of Naperville, Ill., and Dianna (Al) Stumph, of Spooner, Wis.; a son, Robert (Carrie) Coyle, of Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Philip, Al, Eric, Robert, Jesse, Sabrina, Katherine and Clark; and a brother, Edward (Judy) Coyle, of Lakeland, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Bob's memory to the Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Clubs.
