Raymond B. Humke, 80, of Beloit, Wis., formerly of Dubuque, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at home.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in East Lawn Cemetery, both in Beloit. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit.

Mr. Humke worked at Fairbanks Morse & Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1980.

He was born on Feb. 11, 1923, in Dubuque, son of William Andrew and Agnes (Berg) Humke. He married Helen Mae Macomber on Oct. 12, 1946, in Cascade, Iowa.

He graduated from Iowa State University, Ames, in 1950, with a degree in mechanical engineering.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army.

During Ray's retirement, he enjoyed being with his family and friends and enjoyed doing many activities with them.

His hobbies included gardening, playing bridge, traveling and cooking. Ray built his own home and car.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was a former deacon and a member of the Boiler Room crew.

Ray was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His presence at all family gatherings will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Helen; his children, Nancy (Harold Thompson) Kressin, of Beloit, Carol (Ron) Warren, of Louisville, Ky., Janet (Jim) Gocht, of Richland Center, Wis., David (Connie) Humke, of Madison, Wis., and Brian (Ann) Humke, of Cincinnati; 11 grandchildren, Lisa (Steve) Hughes, of Beloit, Brad (Erika Schneider) Kressin, of Seattle, Todd (Beth) Warren, of Louisville, Jennifer (Travis) Scott, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Jeff (Brenda) Gocht, of Belleville, Wis., Derek Humke and Daniel Humke, both of Madison, Jessica (Peter) Olson, of Milwaukee, and Matthew Humke, Andrew Humke and Mitchell Humke, all of Cincinnati; seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Ryan Hughes, Trevor, Logan and Emma Warren and Megan and Alex Gocht; and a brother, Roger Humke, of Ocala, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, David Humke.

Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church.
