Peggy Lynn (Schissel) Swift, 38, of 1862 Carter Road, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at the Rochester (Minn.) Methodist Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Raphael's Cathedral, with Monsignor Wayne Ressler officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a parish wake service at 5 p.m.

Mrs. Swift worked for Crescent Electric in East Dubuque, Ill., for 10 years.

She was born on Nov. 17, 1965, in Dubuque, daughter of Vern and Sharleen (Smith) Schissel. She married Jeff Swift on June 27, 1998.

She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1984, and then moved to Oklahoma, where she worked as a travel agent.

At age 25, she joined the Navy, serving from 1990 to 1994, and served in the Middle East. She then attended Northeast Iowa Community College, Peosta.

She formerly was involved with the Girl Scouts and served as a leader. She also enjoyed Jazzercise, spending time with her friends and family and attending family events. Most of all, she was a wonderful mother and wife.

Surviving are her husband, Jeff, of Dubuque; a son, Nathan, and a daughter, Andrea, both at home; her parents, Vern and Sharleen Schissel, of Dubuque; her maternal grandfather, Harold Smith, of West Union, Iowa; four brothers, Frank (Pricilla) Schissel, of Springfield, Mass., Jay Schissel, of Davenport, Iowa, and Tom (Penny) Schissel and John Schissel, both of Dubuque; two sisters, Dellane (Steve) Tressel and Lori Schissel, both of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Elsa Smith; and paternal grandparents, Bea and Elmer Schissel.

In lieu of flowers, a Peggy Lynn (Schissel) Swift Memorial Fund has been established.
