Ronald J. Pitz, 72, of 4225 Swan Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

His body was donated to the University of Iowa for medical research. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on Nov. 2, 1931, in Dubuque, son of Waldo and Colletta (Germaine) Pitz.

He retired from the Air Force after more than 22 years of service. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.

He loved spending time with his dog, Jake.

Surviving are two brothers, Walter (Doris) Pitz and Dorrance (Loretta) Pitz, both of Dubuque; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Patty Shannon.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Colletta Kamm; and his stepfather, Sylvester Kamm.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, especially Barb K., Rose, Lisa, Lynn and volunteers Sam and Bob, for all of their loving care.
