Alice N. Bjornstad, 94, of Luther Manor, formerly of Minneapolis, Minn., died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at Luther Manor.

Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Luther Manor, where friends may call after 2:45 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Oak Creek Cemetery, Bottineau, N.D. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Feb. 3, 1909, in Tolna, N.D., daughter of Gunder and Betsy (Nelson) Thompson. She married Olaf Bjornstad on April 16, 1934, in St. Paul, Minn.; he preceded her in death in 1992 at the age of 86.

She spent the majority of her life in Minneapolis and moved to Dubuque in 1998.

Alice was a devoted wife and mother. She was cared for by St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two sons, Carsten Bjornstad, of Hutchinson, Minn., and Gregory (Miriam) Bjornstad, of Dubuque; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a sister, Boninda Frydendahl, of Tolna; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Bjornstad, of Madison, Wis.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Grace; and a grandson, Benjamin Bjornstad.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Luther Manor Nursing Home, 3131 Hillcrest Road, Dubuque, Iowa 52001.

With fond affection to the Luther Manor staff for their skill and care for Mom, to Hospice of Dubuque for their knowledge and presence, and to members of St. Peter Lutheran Church for their nurture.
