Delores "Dee" McDermott, 67, of 13035 City View Drive, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, as the result of injuries sustained in an accident on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, in Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 7 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1936, in Shullsburg, Wis., daughter of Leighton and Lucy (Fasanella) Bennett. Mary Delores "Dee" Bennett married John "Jack" McDermott on Sept. 22, 1956, in Darlington, Wis.

She enjoyed auctions, cooking, knitting and NASCAR.

She was an angel walking the earth, sent here to care for her family and friends with enough love to share with everyone. Dee was an unselfish woman who devoted her entire life to others and she will be truly missed by all whom were given the opportunity to know and love her.

Surviving are her husband, Jack McDermott, of Dubuque; five children, Rick (Julie) McDermott, of Scales Mound, Ill., and their children, Jack, April, Angela, Holly and Tom, and two stepchildren, Gina and Brad; Randy McDermott, of Dubuque; Jim (Kelly) McDermott, of Dubuque, and their children, Sarah and Dan; Jodi (Randy) Butlett, of Dubuque, and their children, Jessica and Jacob, and a stepdaughter, Stephanie; and Lori (Lyle) Kelchen, of Asbury, Iowa, and their children, Shelby, Cody, Lucas and Anthony; two brothers, Jim (Audrey) Bennett, of Darlington, and Jack (Laura) Bennett, of St. Charles, Ill.; three sisters, Pat Kramer, of Wayne, Ill., Joan Peterson, of Gardena, Calif., and Brenda (Jerry) Boldock, of Rockford, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three nieces and a nephew.

Dee's family would like to thank the physicians, staff and clergy at the University of Iowa and the Rev. Lyle Wilgenbusch for all their wonderful care and support.
