Loretta S. Maiers, 83, of 2175 Avalon Road, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at home.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. There will be no public visitation. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Dec. 28, 1919, in Asbury, Iowa, daughter of Michael and Elizabeth (Schilling) Wernimont. She married Alfred Maiers in 1945; he passed away in 1993.

Loretta had lived in Dubuque all her life.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne (Ellis) Maiers, of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Terrance (Dawn) Maiers, of Carrollton, Ga.; a daughter, Carol Maiers, of Dubuque; a grandson, Travis Maiers; two brothers, Vincent Wernimont, of Dubuque, and Victor (Pauline) Wernimont, of Clinton Township, Mich.; two sisters, Marie (Mel) Lolwing, of Hazel Green, Wis., and Marcella (Don) Jewett, of Dubuque; and a sister-in-law, Lois Wernimont, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ron Maiers; six brothers; and a sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque and the American Heart Association.
