DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Leonilla A. "Nellie" Benke, 90, of Cascade, formerly of Dyersville, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be an Order of Martha and Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 4 p.m., and a parish scripture service at 5 p.m.

She was born on May 1, 1913, in New Vienna, daughter of Henry A. and Laura (Schlichte) Roling. She married Clarence V. Benke on Aug. 18, 1936, in New Vienna.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Order of Martha.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald (Linda Kremer) Benke and David (Mary) Benke, both of Cascade; a daughter, Deanne Manza, of Winter Haven, Fla.; two daughters-in-law, Mary Jo Benke, of Wynnewood, Okla., and Ruth Ann Benke, of Monticello; and 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence V. Benke, in 1985; three sons, Dennis, in infancy, Alan, in 1983, and Richard, on Aug. 7, 2003; a grandson, Randy Benke; a great-grandson, John Randall Easterling; and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Benke.
