Mrs. Donald (Elizabeth C. "Betty") Hasken, 70, of 3381 Crescent Ridge, died at 11:55 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Dubuque, Ill. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where there will be a parish scripture service at 3 p.m.

She was born on March 26, 1933, in East Dubuque, daughter of Oswald and Anna (Cerny) Oster. She was a cheerleader and valedictorian of her graduating class of 1951 at East Dubuque High School.

She married Donald C. Hasken on Jan. 30, 1954, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Dubuque. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., for a short time before settling in East Dubuque for 10 years. In 1965, they moved permanently to Dubuque.

Betty was the mother of 10 children and grandmother of 14 grandchildren. She devoted her life to her family and home. She was a kind and generous mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed traveling.

Surviving are her husband, Donald G. Hasken; her children and grandchildren, Mike (Sandy) Hasken, of Hanover, Ill., and their son, Jared; Jim (Lorna) Hasken, of Muscatine, Iowa, and their children, Andrew, Christopher and Emily; Jack (Sarah) Hasken, of Dubuque, and their children, Heather and Taylor; Mary (Vladimir) Kotacka, of Yelm, Wash.; Don (Kim) Hasken, of Dubuque, and their children, Amber, Adam and Austin; Ann (John Ward) Hasken, of Mendota, Ill., and their children, Angela and Brittany; Betsy (Marty) McClurge, of Omaha, Neb., and their daughter, Emma; Maria (Glenn) Averkamp, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and their children, Sam and Natalie; and David Hasken, of Dubuque. Also surviving are her siblings, Oswald (Helen) Oster, of East Dubuque, Anne Brant, of Dubuque, and Rosie (Jim) Richman, of Sherrill, Iowa; and her mother-in-law, Alvina Hasken, of East Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Jack Oster, Mary Bonnet, Joseph Oster and Mike Oster; and her beloved son, Patrick John Hasken, on March 4, 1983.

An Elizabeth C. "Betty" Hasken Memorial Fund has been established.
