Clarence M. Grimme, 72, of 435 Glen Oak St., died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, in Jamaica.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Friday at the chapel.

Mr. Grimme worked in the retail market at the former Dubuque Packing Co. and the former FDL Foods, Inc., for 20 years. He also worked in the meat department at the A&P Grocery Store. Clarence then delivered mail for the Dubuque Post Office and was a driver for Ruan Oil Co.

He was born on June 17, 1931, in Dubuque, son of Gilbert and Eleanor (Koehler) Grimme. He married Kathleen Atchison Sullivan on Oct. 4, 2003, at Summit United Congregational Church of Christ, Dubuque.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and traveled all around the world.

He was a member of the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 568 and a Masonic member and former Junior Steward of Mosaic Lodge 125 AF & AM.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen, of Dubuque; two stepchildren, Jim (Rita) Sullivan, of Durango, Iowa, and Karla Sullivan, of Nashville, Tenn.; two step grandchildren, Anthony Sullivan and Nicole Sullivan, both of Durango; and two first cousins, James and Robert Schute, both of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be given to Summit United Congregational Church of Christ.
