EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. - Eric J. Schonhoff, 6-year-old son of John T. and Shelly (Kunkel) Schonhoff, of 17960 Quail Drive, East Dubuque, died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a courageous battle with Burkitt's Lymphoma.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Dubuque. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where there will be a parish scripture service at 7:45 p.m.

He was born on April 14, 1997, in Dubuque, son of John T. and Shelly (Kunkel) Schonhoff.

Eric was a first grade student at St. Mary's School in East Dubuque, where he was an excellent student.

He loved the Game Boy game "Poky Man" and Yu-Gi-Oh trading cards. He enjoyed T-ball, soccer, fishing and riding his bicycle.

He looked forward to meeting his (Apple) Grandma in Heaven, Elizabeth Frick.

Surviving are his parents; two sisters, Nicole Schonhoff, of Dubuque, and Kelsey Schonhoff, at home; his twin brother, Brennan Schonhoff, at home; his maternal grandparents, John and Marna (Frick) Kunkel, of East Dubuque; and his paternal grandparents, Urban and Rosalyn (Pinch) Schonhoff, of Galena.

In lieu of flowers, an Eric J. Schonhoff Memorial Fund has been established.
