Mary Kathryn "Kay" Galligan, 85, of Waterloo, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, where there will be a rosary at 4:30 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Galligan worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., and also was a longtime employee of Walker's Shoe Store, retiring in 1984.

She was born on Dec. 17, 1917, in Des Moines, daughter of P. F. "Frank" and Grace (Wilsey) Sullivan. She married Thomas P. Galligan on June 9, 1941, at Nativity Catholic Church, Dubuque.

She was a Covenant Medical Center volunteer and auxiliary committee member.

Surviving are her husband; three sons, Robert (Suzanne), of Carroll, Iowa, Patrick (Jayne), of Waukesha, Wis., and Timothy (Peggy), of Hudson, Ohio; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janaan Arnold, of Columbus, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Moran; and a brother, Frank Sullivan.

Memorials may be given to Cedar Valley Hospice and St. Edward's Catholic Church.
