CASCADE, Iowa - Rita M. Kirsch, 95, of Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, formerly of Waterloo from 1942 to 1977, and Mountain Home, Ark., from 1977 to 1988, died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at the care center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Daniel Krapfl officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Worthington. Friends may call from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Monday at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade.

Ms. Kirsch was a school teacher in Waterloo.

She was born Dec. 1, 1907, in Cascade, daughter of Austin R. and Julia (Skahill) Boyle. She married Alfred Kirsch on June 12, 1937, in Cascade; he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1987.

Rita received her education in the rural Garryowen Schools, and the former St. Martin's School. She also attended Clarke College and the Iowa State Teacher's College.

She was a member of St. Matthias Catholic Church, Cascade, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Waterloo.

Surviving are a son, Thomas (Jeannine) Kirsch, of Davenport; two daughters, Mary Ellen (John) Martin, of Elko, Nev., and JoAnn (Ted) Deacon, of Dyersville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a brother Orland (Irma) Boyle, of Cascade.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Clara Boyle; and two brothers, Loren Thomas Boyle and Austin Robert Boyle.
