Gerald T. Schuster, 63, of 992 June Dr., died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Holy Family Cemetery, New Mellary, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where a wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Schuster worked for H & W Motor Express for 37 years, retiring in 2001.

He was born on Oct. 4, 1940, in Bernard, Iowa, son of William and Clara (Schneider) Schuster. He married Lola Boettcher on Oct. 18, 1969 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Dubuque.

He was a very active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he was an usher.

He enjoyed traveling and the outdoors. He was a very devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with his three dogs; Beau, Sayde and Bailey. He was a very loving husband and father who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Lola Schuster; a daughter, Susan Schuster, of Dubuque; five brothers, Joe (Alverna) Schuster, of Kansas City, Mo., Loras Schuster, of Dubuque, Richard (Geraldine) Schuster, of Plattville, Wis., William (Lorraine) Schuster and Ray (Lorraine) Schuster, both of Dubuque; two sisters, Carol Lynch, of Savanna, Ill., Mary Scheckel, of Maquoketa, Iowa; mother-in-law, Marcella Boettcher, of Dubuque and a sister-in-law, Bernice Schuster, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by a brother; Henry Schuster; and a sister, Veronica Wickman.

The family would like to thank Dubuque Fire and Rescue for their quick response and efforts.
