Randy J. Roth, 50, of 2265 Prince St., Dubuque, formerly of East Dubuque, Ill., died Tuesday evening, Oct. 14, 2003, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with leukemia.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dubuque. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where there will be a parish scripture service at 3 p.m.

Mr. Roth was a self-employed painter and decorator. He also worked part time for the city of Dubuque.

He was born on Sept. 24, 1953, in Dubuque, son of Earl J. and Delores (Splinter) Roth. He married Debbie Troy on Aug. 4, 1990, in Dubuque.

He was a 1971 graduate of East Dubuque High School. Randy loved working with his hands and taking rides on his Harley motorcycle.

His pride and joy was spending time with his grandchildren, especially Zachary, Kaleb and Taylor, fishing, swim lessons, walking on Heritage Trail, camping and date nights.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie (Troy) Roth, his best friend and the love of his life; his children, Jason (Lola) Roth, and their children, Ravyn, Dezyrae and Adam, of Livingston, Calif.; Amy (John) Greenwald, and their children, Brandon, Zachary and Taylor, of Dubuque; Janel (Bryan) Miller, and their children, Rachael, Nick, Joe and Mitch, of La Motte, Iowa; Jennifer Moore (fiance, Karl Phillips), and son, Kaleb, of Dubuque; and Joshua Moore and Adam Roth, both at home; his brother and sisters, Shirley (Norman) Hinderman, Laurie (Tom) Brandel and Ronnie Roth, all of East Dubuque, and Sandy (Jerry) Foht, of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, Wally Gibson, of Delno, Minn.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vincent and Marilyn Troy; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dee Dee (John) Richman, Jeff Troy, Donna (Kevin) Schmitt and Todd (Diane) Troy, all of Dubuque; his godchildren, Darrin Hinderman, Ambrosia Williams, Nicole Schmitt and Ben Troy; and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl J. Roth, on Aug. 16, 1968; his mother, Delores Roth, on Jan. 14, 1996; a sister, Lillian Gibson, on March 11, 2001; a niece, Pam Hinderman, on April 30, 1990; and a brother-in-law, Mike Troy, on March 2, 2000.

A Randy L. Roth Memorial Fund has been established.
