Armella L. Frye, 93, of the Hiawatha (Iowa) Care Center, formerly of Dubuque, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at the care center, following a short illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Steven Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where there will be a vigil at 6 p.m. Friends also may call from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Frye worked as a supervisor at United Fire and Casualty for 20 years, retiring in 1975.

She was born on Aug. 19, 1910, in Dubuque, daughter of George and Theresa (Frommelt) Imhof. She married George Frye on Jan. 30, 1930, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dubuque; he died in 1990.

Armella was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.

Surviving are a son, Richard (Carol) Frye, of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Juanita (Leonard) Fuchs, Ruth (Melvin) Wesbrook and Anna (Nicholas) Homan, all of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Bernadette Dolan, of Dubuque; two sisters-in-law, Helen Imhof and Louella Frye, both of Dubuque; 27 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
