Mrs. Cyril "Cy" (Mary Catherine "Kay") Lampe, 81, of 1044 Kirkwood St., died at 11:50 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at home, surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Nativity Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Garden Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 4 p.m.

Mrs. Lampe owned and operated Delores Beauty Salon for 60 years until her retirement in 2001.

She was born on Sept. 12, 1922, in Holy Cross, Iowa, daughter of Henry J. and Elizabeth (Clemens) Ungs. She married Cyril "Cy" Lampe on June 14, 1952, in Holy Cross; he died on May 4, 2001.

She was a longtime member of Nativity Catholic Church Parish.

Kay was a pioneer as a working mother balancing family and career. She was a strong and courageous lady who enjoyed her home yet embraced traveling both near and abroad. Life was filled with memories of "the cottage" where days were spent in all seasons with family and friends. Grandma Kay's time was enriched in recent years by neighbors and other special people who cared so deeply about her.

Kay will be missed and loved forever.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Beth (Robert) Polking, of Mason City, Iowa, Diane L. (Stephen) Dewan, of Austin, Texas, and Michelle K. (Peter) Ammentorp, of Vancouver, Wash.; a son, James (Joan) Lampe, of Midland, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Necker, of De Witt, Iowa, and Betty (Gerald) Heiring, of Marshfield, Wis.

She also was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Donald Necker.
