Judy McElmeel, 64, of 2433 Asbury Road, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at home, with family.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday. Private family burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on March 28, 1939, in Dubuque, daughter of Milo and Catherine (Barrett) Pierrie. She married Robert McElmeel on Feb. 15, 1958, at St. Raphael's Cathedral; he passed away on Nov. 22, 1995.

Judy Pierrie graduated from the former St. Joseph's Academy.

She enjoyed playing bingo and getting together with her friends from card club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and never took for granted a moment spent with her grandchildren.

She had been a longtime member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Judy was a woman who devoted her life to others and has left those who knew and loved her with many memories.

Surviving are a daughter, Jill (Perry) Henkes, of Dubuque; five sons, Scott (Patsy) McElmeel, of Phoenix, Terry (Tricia) McElmeel, Jeff (Laura) McElmeel and Jay (Nickol) McElmeel, all of Dubuque, and Tim McElmeel, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, Courtney, Kendra, Mitchell, Madison, McKenzie, Taylor, Katie and Cody McElmeel, Courtney Houy and Kristin and Conner Henkes; two sisters, MaryLou Pierrie and Pat (Bill) Sweeney, both of Dubuque; an uncle, Louis Barrett; and a special cousin, Sandy (Bob) Buechle.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, a Judy Ann McElmeel Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kukla and the Oncology staff, Dr. Baer and the staff at the Wendt Center and Hospice of Dubuque for all their wonderful care and support.
