Mrs. James D. (Lucille A. "Dolly") Cook, 82, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of the Alverno Apartments and 2854 Pinard St., died of natural causes at 9:42 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 4 p.m.

Mrs. Cook worked in housekeeping at the former Xavier Hospital for five years.

She was born on July 20, 1921, in Grant County, Wis., daughter of Henry M. and Alberta (Haverland) Lange.

She married James D. Cook on July 7, 1942, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1982. She was a full time wife, mother and housekeeper.

Dolly was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and the Community of the Living Word.

Surviving are two daughters, Margaret (Loren J.) Wood, of Potosi, Wis., and Patricia (Robert) Kaesbauer, of Dubuque; four sons, Mark J. (Debbie) Cook, Robert (Diane) Cook, Jerry (Marlene) Cook and Philip (Cindy) Cook, all of Dubuque; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann (Arnold "Butch") Weis, of Dubuque; and two brothers, Eldon (Betty) Lange, and Joseph (Norma) Lange, both of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Reilly; a son-in-law, Michael Friedman; two sisters, Florence Schmit and Leona Waddick; and five brothers, Frank, Clarence, Jerry, Eugene and Tony Lange.

A Lucille A. Cook Memorial Fund has been established.
