DUSCHEN, KANE, MCGREAVEY

Dubuque Telegraph Herald May 8,1932. Peter Duschen, 77 of 887 Rush Street, died at Mercy hospital Saturday, from an illness of two weeks. Mr. Duschen was born on Nov. 5,1855 in Luxembourg. He came to America with his parents Mr.and Mrs. Nicholas Duschen in1856. They settled near St. Catherine's,Ia. He was married to Catherine Kane in 1882. She died at St.Catherine's in 1893. In 1895 he was married to Mary Ann McGreavey. He was engaged in farming near Bernard,Ia.,for 25 years, until 1920 when he retired. He had made his home in Dubuque since that time. Mr. Duschen enjoyed the confidence and esteem of a host of friends and acquaintances. Surviving are his wife Mary Ann and three sons; George of Peosta,Ia., William of Waterloo,Ia., Jacob of Chicago,Ill. And fourteen Grandchildren also survive him. Mr. Duschen was a member of the Catholic Church and attended St. Columbkille's parish. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society of that parish. His body may be viewed at the Hoffman's Mortuary after Sunday noon.The funeral will be held Tuesday morning to the St. Columbkille's Church at 8:30 o'clock. A solemn High Mass of requiem bring read by the Rev. Father John Halpin,celebrant, assisted by the Rev. Father Peter O'Malley,deacon; the Rev. Father Louis McDonough, subdeacon. The Rev. Father Patrick J. Coffey was also in the sanctuary. At the conclusion of the Mass Rev. Father Halpin preached a sermon. The body was interred in the Holy Family cemetery at the Monastery. Prayers at the grave being said by the Rev. Father Placid McGhee.
The pall bearers were; Dave Donovan, Nicholas Kurt, Austin McDermott, Clarence Hartman, Fred Spielman, and Matt Fagan.
