Mrs. Catherine Ryan is Called by Death.
Mrs. Catherine Ryan, died Sunday evening at midnight at the family home in Vernon township. She was born March 25,1855 the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Edward Chapman Sr. She lived her entire lifetime in that community.She was married to John Ryan in 1876. Mrs. Ryan was well known in the city and her many friends will be grieved to hear of her passing. She was a very kind and caring, and always ready to lend a hand to help others. She is survived by her husband John Ryan. Two sons Henry and William Ryan, all of Vernon township. Two daughters Mrs. George (Mary) Duschen and Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Brown both of Vernon township. One sister Mrs. Esther Desmond of Vernon township. Three brothers; Bernard and David Chapman of Vernon township, and William Chapman of Dubuque.
Thefuneral will be held Wednesday morning from the family residence in Vernon township. To the Holy Family Catholic Church at the Monastery at 10 o"clock. Requiem High Mass will be Celebrated by the Rev. Father Placid McGhee. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The pall bearers were; Vincent, Bernard, Louis, David, Edward, Robert and Herbert Chapman, all nephews of the deceased.
The out-of-town relatives at the funeral were; Mr.and Mrs. William Chapman, Robert and Richard Chapman, Mr.and Mrs. Fabian Beckett and Mr.and Mrs.M.Jay McCarthy,and Mr.and Mrs. J. McDonald and Donald Chapman all of Dubuque.
Mrs. Ryan was preceded in death by two brothers; John Chapman in 1921, Edward Chapman in 1904.
