James J. Fleckenstein, 67, of Dubuque, died Friday, August 17, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Anthonys Catholic Church with the Rev. Steven Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, August 20, from 3-8 p.m. at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2659 John F Kennedy Road, where a wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Jim was born on January 30, 1945 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Marie (Reuter) Fleckenstein. He graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School in 1963.

Jim was employed at Flecks Standard, Montgomery Wards, Brians Amoco and Derby Gas Station.
Fleck always enjoyed having friends over and through the years Flecks Trio formed and played for many outdoor events. He was a humble man, with a big heart and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his two sons, Randy (Jennifer) Fleckenstein, of Richmond, VA. and Michael (Sandra) Fleckenstein, of North Liberty, IA.; 7 grandchildren, Marie and Ozzie Bakken, Nicholas and Grace Fleckenstein, and Brett, Katlyn, and Lilianna Fleckenstein; his brother, Orv Fleckenstein, of Dubuque; his sister, Mary Ann Clemens, of Libertyville, IL., and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy (Fleckenstein) Bakken, his parents, his brother, Ray (Helene Hendricks) Fleckenstein, and his sister-in-law, Mary (Donnelly) Fleckenstein.
In lieu of flowers a James Fleckenstein memorial fund has been established.
