Steven D. "Steve" Anthony, 43, of Crystal Beach, Texas, formerly of Dubuque, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Crystal Beach.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Dubuque. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, where there will be a parish wake service at 4:30 p.m. A gathering of family and friends was held Tuesday evening at St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic Church, Crystal Beach.

Mr. Anthony was the owner of Steve's Landing Restaurant and Marina in Crystal Beach.

He was born on Oct. 19, 1959, in Dubuque, son of Richard W. and Joanne J. (Neuhaus) Anthony.

He was a graduate of Stephen Hempstead High School in Dubuque. When he was 24 years old, he moved to Texas.

He was a member of the Gilchrist Community Association and the Chamber of Commerce. He was an active supporter of all charitable causes from High Island to the Galveston Ferry.

He was returning from a volunteer fire department fund-raiser when he lost control of his motorcycle about 9 p.m. Saturday.

He was proud of his white Harley Davidson motorcycle and was looking forward to this weekend's rally in Galveston.

Steve was a popular community leader whose death was a shock and loss to his many friends and family.

Surviving are his parents, Dick and Joanne (Neuhaus) Anthony, of Dubuque; a sister, Jill Anthony, of Sturgis, S.D.; two brothers, Ken Anthony, of Dubuque, and Bob (Jackie) Anthony, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; nieces and nephews; and his extended family, Jim and Ruth Meeks, of Crystal Beach.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Christine A. Horsefield, on Jan. 17, 2002.

In lieu of flowers, a Steven D. Anthony Memorial Fund has been established.
