Gary "Sluggo" Simpson, 66, of 1240 Bluff St., No. 14, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1937, in Zwingle, Iowa, son of Ross and Lelia (Drening) Simpson.

Surviving are his children, Scott (Brenda) Simpson and Gregory (Kelly) Simpson, both of Dubuque, and Sara Simpson, of Palatine, Ill.; nine grandchildren; two brothers, William "Bill" Simpson and Russell "Rusty" Simpson; and four sisters, Doris Riekena, Kay Nemmers, Sandra Morgan and Sharon Matthews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Randy; six brothers, James, Roland, Fred, Glen, Alvin and Ray; and two sisters, Ethel Follman and Melva Edwards.
