Mary Leone Norton, 92, a resident of Cortlandt Manor, New York, for more than 50 years, formerly of Palm Desert, Calif., and Dubuque, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at Hudson Valley Hospital Center, New York.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Assumption, Peekskill, N.Y. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday Curry Funeral Home, Peekskill.

She worked as a medical social worker for the FDR Veterans Administration in Montrose, N.Y., for 20 years before retiring in the 1980s.

She was born on Dec. 4, 1910, in Dubuque, daughter of Patrick J. and Minnie Regan Norton.

She graduated from the former Visitation Academy and Clarke College in Dubuque, St. Louis University, Catholic University in Washington D.C., and Columbia University in New York City.

In the 1950s, she was the director of social work at the New York Infirmary in New York City.

She was a member of the Van Cortlandt Historical Society. She enjoyed traveling with her family.

Mary was beloved by all who knew her for her graciousness, kindness and sense of humor.

Surviving are a daughter, Jane Norton, M.D., of Cortlandt Manor and Palm Desert; a son, Michael (Christina) Norton, Esq., of Stamford, Conn.; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Norton, of Stamford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Espejo Norton, in 1992.
