Mrs. Lorraine E. Ronek, 80, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 45 Oak Grove Drive, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at the care center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick''s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m.

Mrs. Ronek was a former night manager at Karigan's Restaurant and was a waitress at Kay's Restaurant prior to that.

She was born on May 19, 1923, in Dubuque, daughter of Robert and Ella (Thompson) Waller. She married Justin L. Ronek on Feb. 10, 1944, at St. Patrick''s Catholic Church; he passed away on Sept. 13, 1995.

Lorraine grew up in Dubuque and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1942.

She was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan. She also was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are three daughters, Virginia (Marlin) Seiler, of Davenport, Iowa, and Marie (Art) Lehrman and Jane (John) Nigg, both of Dubuque; four sons, Lyle (Linda) Ronek, Ray (Sandy) Ronek and Jack (special friend, Claire True) Ronek, all of Dubuque, and Jim (Tina) Ronek, of Janesville, Wis.; three sisters, Lois Ronek and Helen (Frank) Hedrick, both of Dubuque, and Joyce Cartmill, of Hazel Green, Wis.; a brother, Don (Kay) Waller, of Bernard, Iowa; a stepsister, Gerry Steil, of Dubuque; and a stepbrother, Ralph (Donna) Cummings, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.

A Lorraine E. Ronek Memorial Fund has been established by the family.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque and Stonehill for their loving care.
