Sister Mary Etienne McDonald, BVM, 79, of Marian Hall, 1050 Carmel Drive, died at 9:07 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at Marian Hall.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Marian Hall Chapel. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Mary Etienne was an elementary school teacher in Chicago; Memphis, Tenn.; St. Louis; and Phoenix. She served as administrator at Marian Hall from 1971 to 1974, in parish ministry in Chicago and Maywood, Ill., and on various BVM community committees.

She was born on Sept. 20, 1923, in Milwaukee, daughter of Leo Fleming and Florence Marie (Stumpf) McDonald.

She made her first profession of religious vows on Aug. 15, 1944, and her final profession of religious vows on Aug. 15, 1949.

Surviving are a sister, Ann Helfer, of Milwaukee; a brother, John McDonald, of Milwaukee; nieces and nephews; and the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with whom she shared life for 61 years.

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of Charity, BVM Retirement Fund.
