James Royce Lyons, 86, of 730 Kirkwood Ave., died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Private family services will be today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St. Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. There will be no public visitation.

Mr. Lyons worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 30 years as a supervisor in Heat Treat.

He was born on May 14, 1917, in Bloomfield, Ill., son of Howard and Estelle (Francis) Lyons.

He was a World War II veteran, having fought in France, Germany and the Philippines.

Surviving are his wife, Maryrita, of Dubuque; two daughters, Judith (Robert) Christiansen, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Joyce Lyons, of Dubuque; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Velda Howarth, of Bloomfield, Ill.; a brother, Dillon (Mary Lee) Lyons, of Bloomfield; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
