Mr. Robert N. "Bob" Ruden, 54, of Sunnycrest Manor Nursing Home, formerly of 1150 McGregor Drive, died at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at the nursing home, following a long battle with multiple sclerosis.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, Dubuque, where there will be a wake service at 6:30 p.m.

Mr. Ruden worked as an estimator for River City Paving.

He was born on July 22, 1949, in Dyersville, son of Elmer and Marie (Schmal) Ruden. He married Anne M. Altman on Sept. 7, 1974, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville.

He grew up in Dyersville. He graduated from Dyersville Beckman High School in 1967, before attending the University of Iowa, Iowa City, for two years.

He enjoyed boating, snowmobiling and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Anne M. Ruden, of Dubuque; a son, Adam M. Ruden, of Ames, Iowa; a daughter, Michelle L. (Aaron) Baack, of Richmond, Va.; his parents, Elmer and Marie Ruden, of Dyersville; two sisters, Nancy (Mike) Pins, of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Beverly (John) Karns, of Denver; three brothers, LeRoy (Carol) Ruden and Dave (Patti) Ruden, both of Dyersville, and Tim (Nita) Ruden, of Bloomington, Minn.; two grandchildren, Connor and Emily Baack; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sara Ruden.

A Robert N. Ruden Memorial Fund has been established by the family.
