Hannelore Carroll, 63, of 1420 Gilliam St., died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a Knights of Columbus rosary service at 6 p.m., and a parish scripture service at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Carroll worked as a certified nursing assistant for more than 40 years at Lady of Lourdes, Luther Manor and Mount Carmel.

She was born on Oct. 10, 1939, in Schweinfurt, Germany, daughter of Ludwig and Maria (Braun) Then.

She married Michael Carroll on Aug. 24, 1957, in Schweinfurt. She moved to the United States in 1958, and to Dubuque in 1963.

Surviving are her husband, Michael Carroll, of Dubuque; nine children, Michael Carroll, of Homa, La., Patricia (Shawn) Bargenquest, of Shelby, Iowa, Kathleen Carner, of Maquoketa, Iowa, Daniel (Diane) Carroll, Shawn (Tracy) Carroll, Colleen Wells, Robert (Vickie) Carroll and Irene Carroll, all of Dubuque, and Aileen Carroll, of Frisco, Texas; 27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Jones, of McMinnville, Tenn.; and a stepsister, Elfriede Tierpin, of West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Maureen L. Carroll, who passed away in August 1975; and a granddaughter, Carrie Carroll.

A Hannelore Carroll Memorial Fund has been established.
