Roger P. Dolan, 73, of 4885 Asbury Road, formerly of 2924 Shiras Ave., died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at Heritage Manor, after a long illness following a stroke nine years ago.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St.

Mr. Dolan worked at the former Dubuque Packing Co. for more than 30 years.

He was born on Feb. 25, 1930, in Dubuque, son of Albert P. and Marie (Basten) Dolan.

He graduated from the former Loras Academy in Dubuque. He served in Japan from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean Conflict.

He was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He enjoyed outdoor activities including gardening, hunting, fishing and his dog, "Duke."

Surviving are two sisters, Beverly (Joseph) Kluesner and Genevieve (James) Givens, both of Dubuque; three brothers, Albert (Nancy) Dolan, John (Sheila) Dolan and Robert Dolan, all of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Bette Dolan, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and 24 nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Glendoris (Tom) Meyer; and a brother, Dennis P. Dolan.

Thank-you to Dr. Bruce Abele and his staff for their long and special care. Thanks to the entire staff at Heritage Manor for the everyday care and thoughtfulness provided for Roger.
